A spot  "off the beatten track"

Situated on the northeastern of the Aegean sea, Lesvos (also called Mytilene) is Greece’s third-largest island. Lesvos capital city Mytilene is bubbly all year round and has an international airport and a ferry port. Closer to Turkey than Greece‘s capital Athens, the island offers varied and breathtaking landscapes, cultural sites, and preserved clean beaches. Lesvos has been home for poets and artists throughout the past, the most famous being the ancient poetess Sappho, whose sensual and lesbian poetry still echoes in the island’s name. Away from the main tourist attractions, the Plomari area is covered by olive grove, and is famous for its oil and ouzo production. Plomari fishing village and beautiful coastline and beaches are only a 20 minutes drive from Toumba, or a 45 minutes walk down hill.

Maps and Routes

Toumba eco farm can be reached by car from the rural road that runs from Papados/Skopelos, through Karyona, to Milies. There are also several roads to Milies from Plomari, including one from Trigonas, and we are just a couple kilometers further on, towards Karyona. There is also a clearly marked hiking path from Trigonas. Approaching the farm, one can see the round-edged hill that gives the area its name, Toumba.
